Today, our highly anticipated seminar, “The Role of Islamic Education in Promoting Animal Welfare,” concluded beautifully at Gaheyr Campus, Somali National University. It was an inspiring and impactful event, filled with enlightening discussions and meaningful contributions.

Key Highlights

  • Prof. Mohamed Hassan Bube, representing the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine & Animal Husbandry – SNU, shared invaluable perspectives on how education fosters compassion toward animals.
  • Dr. Hodan Ibrahim Nageye, Chairperson of the Somali Veterinary Women Associations, gave an empowering talk on the importance of female leadership in veterinary medicine and animal welfare.
  • Ahmed Mustaf Jeylani, Chairperson of the Veterinary Medicine Students Association, delivered a passionate speech on the role of youth in cultivating empathy and care for animals.
  • Dr. Yonis Abukar Mohamed, Vice Chairperson of the Somali Animal Welfare Society (SAWS), emphasized the organization’s commitment to improving animal welfare standards across Somalia.

Organized as part of SAWS’ Building a Culture of Care project, the seminar successfully brought together experts, educators, and students to explore the intersection of faith, education, and compassion for animals.
