The Somali Animal Welfare Society (SAWS) recently carried out a successful field visit to camel farms in the Treedisho area of Mogadishu as part of its ongoing efforts to improve animal health and promote responsible livestock care across Somalia.
During the visit, the SAWS veterinary team provided free mass treatment to dozens of camels suffering from various health conditions, including internal and external parasites, wounds, and malnutrition.
Alongside the medical interventions, SAWS engaged local camel herders and farm owners in awareness sessions on animal welfare, early disease detection, proper feeding practices, and the importance of regular veterinary care.
This initiative is part of SAWS’s broader mission to enhance the well-being of animals while supporting the livelihoods of pastoral communities who depend heavily on camels for milk, transport, and income. By bringing essential veterinary services directly to rural areas like Treedisho, SAWS continues to bridge the gap in access to animal healthcare and education.
We thank the Treedisho community for their warm welcome and cooperation, and we remain committed to ensuring healthier animals and more resilient communities throughout Somalia.
Together for the welfare of animals.
