The Somali Animal Welfare Society (SAWS) recently conducted a field visit to several animal farms on the outskirts of Mogadishu, continuing its mission to promote animal welfare awareness across Somalia.
This initiative aimed to educate livestock owners and herders on the importance of proper animal care, disease prevention, and humane treatment. SAWS staff engaged directly with farmers, offering practical guidance on:
- Early disease identification
- Shelter improvement
- Benefits of regular veterinary check-up
During the visit, the team identified common health challenges affecting animals in rural areas and provided on-the-spot advice and basic veterinary support where needed. These efforts are essential to improving the well-being of animals that sustain local livelihoods.
The campaign also focused on strengthening relationships between SAWS and farming communities, ensuring ongoing access to reliable information and support for animal health and welfare.
SAWS remains committed to expanding its outreach beyond urban centers—ensuring animal welfare knowledge reaches every corner of the country, especially in underserved farming regions.
Together, we can build a more compassionate and healthier environment for all animals in Somalia.
